Welcome to our cozy corner of the internet! Our names are Sadie and Nich. We have been best friends since 4 years old, now married. Before our crochet journey, we both finished our nursing school, got nice jobs, Sadie in youth mental health, and Nich in geriatric dementia. Before long we started getting in crochet as a hobby. Our passion in crochet skyrocketed with local markets selling hand made crochet pieces, this turned into wanting to create beginner crochet kits to help people learn our favourite hobby! 2019
This wasn't a fleeting obsession?
With most hobbies in our life, we obsess over them for weeks, only to lose steam and lose interest. Crochet was different, mind the pun, but we were hooked. We started with youtube videos, slowly migrating to patterns, then finally creating our very own patterns! This hobby was here to stay.
2021
Our First Market
Years passed since our firsst stitch line, we have gotten better, and decided to enter local markets. They are a great place to talk with people, and honestly most of the sales go to other vendors in backdoor trades. The best part was interacting with people from our city! These markets were a milestone for YDT Hobby, because we didn't know it yet, but we created the very first product we would sell online, enter Bo The Bumblebee. Bo was always a hit at markets, loved by all we knew we had to create something from it. Bo was easy to make for beginners, a ring, some increases, rows here and there, and some decreases and you had your very own bumblebee.
2023
Markets Continued, so did our ideas
When two people in a house have raging ADHD, ideas tend to fly our faster than tehy can be occomplished, thats when sadie had the idea of creating our first product, it would be a Crochet Kit For Beginners! Sadie would handle all of the filming and pattern creation, while Nich would take on the ecommerce and editing. Together we took several months, trying to create the perfect video, with step by step written instructions.
2024
Our First Sale
On Feb. 14 2024 we launched our first product: Bo The Bumblebee, Crochet Kit For Beginners. We took the time to learn how to sell, lets just say... nurses might not be the best at marketing. What we do have is determination, so before long we learned the ins and outs, tried to progress, learning things we never thought possible. While Nich focused on the ecommerce side, Sadie was hard at work creating our next lineup. Moving forward we wanted to create a sort or series or collection, with plans to add to Bo one day, we knew our next collection had to be farm animals. Its been our dream to have goats, chickens, cows, the whole nine yards, but without the land, our next best thing was to create our own. In comes the Barnyard Buddies Collection. Nugget The Chicken, Mabel The Pig, and Buttercup The Cow. With those now complete and on the roster, we hope to make so many more, but for now our focus is on user experience, website creation, and other quality of life improvements.
